Landscape Architecture focuses on intervention in the landscape through design, planning and management. It envisions and builds a landscape for the future based on an understanding of the culture and science which forms it. It is united around the concept of landscape which is generally understood to mean outdoor spaces, environments and relationships between people and places. Landscape Architecture is concerned with landscapes of all types, both urban and rural, and at all scales from the smallest open space to the region. It is concerned with building a sustainable future for the landscape that we inhabit. Edinburgh College of Art (ECA) is the only institution in Scotland offering professional, degree-level programmes in Landscape Architecture.
